With over 35 years of experience, Lori Cagwin has provided Landscape Architectural services throughout the Bay Area from site planning through landscape development of parks, schools, multi-unit residential subdivisions, inns, wineries, commercial properties, and residential estates.

  Lori is an experienced professional with a broad range of expertise in Layout and Construction, grading and Drainage, Planting, irrigation, Lighting, Construction Detailing, Cost Estimating /Value Engineering, Bid Administration, and Project Management. She has led and managed multidiscipline teams on many commercial, residential and residential projects from conceptual through final design and construction.

  Lori has been involved in LEED certification projects, and dedicated to restoration of native habitats, historical preservation, community involvement, Xeriscape principles for both plant material and irrigation system development.She has honed her expertise though a wide range of projects, including parks, housing developments, inns and spas, estates, wineries, commercial, residential and municipal properties. Tasks include site assessment, preliminary schematics, budget analysis, final master plans, working drawings, bid administration through project coordination and final acceptance with maintenance guidelines.

  A California native, and brought up in a landscape contracting family, Lori has experienced the full spectrum of project startup through completion, and realized early on the importance of teamwork. A successful project is the result of a thoughtful and creative blending of client needs and site constraints. A successful project is the achievement of many, made possible not only by the landscape Architect’s vision, but also by the client, design team and contractors. The process of site assessment, preliminary schematics, budget analysis, final master plans, working drawings, bid administration through project coordination and final acceptance with maintenance guidelines is necessary to achieve a truly successful project.

  While attending UC Berkeley in the late 70s with a major in Landscape Architecture, Lori took a year abroad to study Impressionist landscape painting in Aix-en-Provence, France, where she was exposed to art and nature daily. From pastoral softscapes through the axial symmetry of Versailles, she was able to see and experience the results of man’s hand in the natural world, and to realize that she could make a difference.

  Lori Cagwin Landscape Architecture has been a member of the North Coast Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, The Napa County Chapter of California Native Plant Society, The Sustainability Forum of ‘Future Visioning of Urban Landscapes, the Bay-Friendly Landscaping and Gardening Coalition, and Napa County Green Building Council.
